Our Story

The Beautiful Story of the Colibri Bleu

Nestled in the heart of a village in Minervois, our guesthouse welcomes you to a setting that combines serenity and a change of scenery.

Built in 1896, this fully renovated winemaker’s house is now a unique place where the charm of the old brilliantly blends with modern comfort.

Located in Argeliers, Le Colibri Bleu offers you the opportunity to discover the beauty of a rich and contrasting landscape. On one side, the vineyards, a key element of the region and a symbol of a past marked by the winegrowers’ revolt led by Marcelin Albert in 1907.

On the other, the Canal du Midi, a true jewel listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. An essential site in Occitanie that offers peaceful boat rides, walking, or cycling.

The Values of Our Guesthouse

Our business is committed to an eco-friendly approach. Every small action in our daily routine follows a logic in favor of the planet.

For example, we take care of:

Sorting waste

Placing all biodegradable materials in our compost bin

Collecting rainwater for garden watering

Equipping the entire house with low-energy light bulbs

For each of the services we provide to our clients, we are committed to using natural and high-quality products.

In response to this approach, we have, for example, chosen to clean our guest rooms and the cottage using ecological cleaners such as white vinegar, Marseille soap, black soap, and baking soda.

The dishes that make up our breakfasts and the meals offered at our guest table are also selected with great care. Thanks to our partnerships with local producers, we can cook our various dishes using local products. A true delight for the taste buds!

An Ideal Location

The first highlight of the house is undoubtedly its location. Ideally situated just 1 km from the Canal du Midi, it offers travelers the opportunity to quickly reach the famous watercourse.

A real plus for nature lovers who like to recharge during a pleasant walk.

For walking enthusiasts, cycling aficionados will not be left out! We indeed have the “Accueil Vélo” label. A title that allows us to welcome many cyclists and hikers.

With our experience, we have decided to combine our strengths to offer our clients an unforgettable stay.

On one side, a friendly and warm welcome assured by Nathalie. On the other, the preparation of delicious meals cooked by Sébastien.

Another Little Plus

Nathalie is trilingual. She can therefore easily communicate with French, German, and Luxembourgish clients. As for Sébastien, he communicates easily with English-speaking guests.

Our Story in a Few Words…

Married for 24 years, we shared the common project of taking over a guesthouse. Therefore, we decided to change our lives and jump into this new adventure!

Both originally from Moselle, we finally settled in the lovely village of Argeliers, in the Aude, where we were charmed by the beauty of this magnificent winemaker’s building. We concluded that Le Colibri Bleu would be the ideal place to realize this beautiful project.

Taking over this guesthouse is also a nod to our professional past. Although we did not work in the same profession, we both immersed ourselves in the world of catering.

Our Respective Careers

Nathalie started in this sector as a waitress at just 16 years old. After an apprenticeship and a first experience in France, she decided to go abroad to enrich her knowledge in the fields of hospitality, bar, and service. This adventure also allowed her to acquire new language skills in German and Luxembourgish.

As for Sébastien, his journey in the world of gastronomy began at culinary school. After earning a professional baccalaureate in cooking, he started working in France. A first job that notably allowed him to meet Nathalie.

Later, he also decided to move to Luxembourg. An experience that gave him the opportunity to enrich himself professionally through the various jobs he held. Catering, butcher, and also home cooking… These are all areas that Sébastien had the chance to discover.

These few words outline the main stages of our journey. With over 28 years of experience in catering, we wish to offer our guests all our expertise to ensure them an unforgettable experience.
